Sherla Foster Sanderson, 88, of Berea, Ohio passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, February 29, 2024. Sherla hailed from Dalton Georgia. She arrived in Berea in 1954 to attend Baldwin -Wallace College. It was here she met and married her one true love, Russell A. Sanderson Jr. They were married for 67 years and have 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. The phrase, “Never underestimate the power of a woman” describes Sherla and thus began her years pursuing the arts and her love of fashion and all things beautiful. Sherla’s love for fashion propelled her into a career at Halles department stores as the director of display. She had a passion for the performing arts and was a big fan of the Berea Summer Theatre and The Near Westside Theater. Sherla loved gardening and was extremely proud of her flowers in her secret garden. She was responsible for the flower arrangements at Lola and Lolita Restaurants in Cleveland. Sherla was a member of the Berea Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. As a member of the Berea United Methodist Church she sang with the New Singers choir.
Sherla is survived by her husband Russell Aretus Sanderson Jr.; 4 children, Russell A. III (Susan ) Sanderson, Liz (Michael) Symon, Heather Sanderson, Marilyn (Michael) Herschman. Her 13 grandchildren, Jake, Kyle (Krista), Claire, Russell IV, Charley, Johnny, Sam, Josef, Jackson, Henry, Dean, Skye and Jack; 4 great grandchildren, Luna, Emerson, Butch and Artcher; 3 sisters,
Sylvia, Pat (deceased) and Penny, and a slew of nieces and nephews all of whom she loved and touched deeply. Please join us in celebrating her life: Sunday June 9, 2024 12:30 - 3p.m.
